Kazan joins Metro4All

Metro4All web and mobile apps are updated with Kazan accessibility data.

Kazan metro system is the newest in Russia, the first stations have been opened in 2005. The accessibility of its infrastructire is directly influenced by this fact:

5 stations of 10 (Prospect pobedy, Ploschad Tukaya, Koz’ya sloboda, Yash’lek and Severny vokzal) are equipped with elevators;
6 stations of 10 (Aviastroitelnaya, Severny vokzal, Yash’lek, Ploschad Tukaya, Sukonnaya sloboda, Gorki) are equipped with wheelchair platforms;
2 stations (Kremlyovskaya and Amet’evo) are equipped with portable wheelchair lifts.

Total number of routes in Kazan metro is 96:

18 routes (19%) at 4 stations are fully accessible for wheelchair-users;
46 routes (48%) at 9 stations are fully equipped for parents with strollers and commuters with sized luggage.

Some stations are inaccessible for wheelchair-users because of continued construction and maintenance works (Prospect pobedy) or too narrow doors (720 mm), which can become an obstacle for some wheelchairs (Sukonnaya sloboda, Yash’lek)
